Take a few seconds of your precious time students, look closely and `LEARN the VOCABULARY of the Character Palette.....This will HELP you as you lay out the TEXT on your goals poster... KEY POINTS ARE: 1. LEADING- "the space between lines" >> This text adjustment is CRITICAL to good design... TIP> You want the lines of text to be close but be careful of text ascenders and descenders creeping into the next line>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2. TRACKING- "the space between all the characters (text) that you highlight- Letter-Spacing, also called tracking, refers to the amount of space between a group of letters to affect density in a line or block of text. TIP- This is a good area to experiment-you can make some cool effects by changing the TRACKING of the text 3. KERNING- "the space between 2 characters (text) Kerning is a term applied specifically to the spacing adjustment of two particular characters to correct for visually uneven spacing. FINAL THOUGHTS (like they matter ) Use caution with both kerning and tracking. Tracking is very often wildly overdone, Kerning is seldom done enough. k......Keep It Real......aloha Mr S. |
